Phil is a member of the Institute of Directors (IOD) and served on the Committee for IOD North Wales. He has a Diploma in Company Direction (IOD) from Salford University. He also sat on the Merseyside committee of the MERIT organisation which runs as a catalyst for IT departments and businesses in the Merseyside area. Phil was a member of the Institute of Logistics, also the Institute of Management and is a former member of Mensa.
Phil was IT Director and latterly Retail Systems Director at KwikSave in north Wales and implemented a number of key business systems over a 25 year period--including the implementation of EPOS and associated retail solutions and support for around 800 branches. (During that time turnover grew from £15 million in 1969 to £3 billion in 1993, and was recognised as the fastest growing food retailer in the UK and was a member of the FTSE 100 during that time)
